The School of Life Sciences and Technology successfully held the 2022 Commencement on the morning of June 22.

Prof. DENG Zixin, Dean of the School, congratulates all the graduates for their achievements in various aspects. He encouraged all graduates to overcome the difficulties in their lives. DENG said that life is not meant to be easy, so one often needs self-discipline, responsibility, and dedication to achieve anything valuable. He hoped that these fresh graduates could take advantage of their knowledge and devote themselves into scientific researches in epidemics frontiers and One Health area where our motherland and people need them the most. 

Afterwards, the representative of the mentors awarded degrees to these newlly graduated bachelors, masters and doctors. LI Wenchun, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, announced the outstanding graduates, including the outstanding graduates of Shanghai and the outstanding graduates of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), also the winner of SJTU excellent doctoral dissertation nomination award, the winner of SJTU outstanding bachelor's thesis, and the outstanding bachelor's thesis of the School. On the behalf of the School, LI appreciated the graduates who chose to work in grassroots government departments and in central and western regions of China.

Faculties, students’ parents, and current students expressed their best wishes to the graduates by VCR. Prof. FENG Yan, Executive Vice Dean of the School, presented the letters of appointment to all newly appointed class council directors SUN Wenli among the other class council directors. As the youngest alumni of the School, they could become the bridge between alma mater and alumni in the future.

CHU Yanyi, an outstanding graduate of Shanghai, delivered a speech on behalf of the graduates. She looked back her hardworking pathway at SJTU, and emphasized the importance of insisting on pursuing one’s career. CHU said that it would be a great honor to contribute to the scientific progress of the motherland.

On behalf of all the graduates, WANG Pujie presented a peach and plum tree to the School as a graduation commemorative gift. In Chinese culture, peach and plum trees sustain many juicy fruits just like the teachers nourishing their students. By planting this tree, WANG wish the School will have more and more students graduated and become the mainstay of the society. GU Jianping, Secretary of the Party Committee, accepted the tree on behalf of the School and congratulated the graduates. GU welcomed all the alumni stay connected with alma mater as the School will always be supportive. He wished that all the students could achieve the best version of themselves, and write the most beautiful chapter of life in the dedication to the motherland.
