Prof. Wensheng WEI, from Peking University, delivered a seminar on "Gene Editing and High-throughput Functional Genomics" at the Truth-seeking (also known as “Qiu-Zhen”) forum on November 11th. Prof. WEI is a principle investigator at the School of Life Sciences of Peking University, who has published a number of papers in high-profile journals, including Cell, Nature, Nature Biotechnology, and PNAS.

During the seminar, Prof. WEI introduced a series of advanced high-throughput functional genomics technologies. Based on the CRISPR/Cas9 system, the team has developed a variety of high-throughput gene editing screening methods, and has greatly improved the sensitivity and efficiency of high-throughput screening.

The seminar was highly appraised by the audience as it gave them better understanding on high-throughput gene editing technology as well as new ideas for the study of major diseases and the design of new drug targets.

Prof. Shuangjun LIN, the deputy dean of the School of Life Sciences and biotechnology, hosted the seminar and acknowledged the speaker ‘s efforts by awarding a seminar speaker medal.
