The School of Life Sciences and Biotechnology (SLSB) of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU)has a good foundation of interdisciplinary research, especially between science and engineering SLSB has a very strong research background, one of its core subjects, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology is among the top 1‰ worldwide according to Essential Science Indicators (ESI). SLSB has quite a few subjects that entered the top 1% of ESI, including Molecular Biology and Genetics, Microbiology, Immunology, Environmental Science and Ecology, Botany and Zoology, Neuroscience and Behavioral Sciences SLSB attracts high-level research teams and outstanding young scientists all over the world. In recent years, the school receive research funding for100+ national key research and development projects, such as National "973” Programs, National "863” Programs, etc. SLSB reaches out for more world-class partnerships and has collaborative links with the United States, Australia, Thailand, Singapore, Israel and many other countries.
Research teams at SLSB aim at high academic and research standards. Recent publications include but not limited to Science, Nature, Nature Communications, PNAS, Nature Genetics, The Plant Cell, Chemistry & Biology, The ISME Journal, PLoS Genetics, AEM, Gene, JB, Microbiology, and Nucleic Acid Research.
