Computational Genomics & Microbiomics
With the progress of sequencing technology, many fundamental biological problems can be studied now. For example, what are the differences between a species level genome and individual genomes; how many proteins can be encoded in the human genome; what are human-specific genome regions, and how did they origin and evolve? We are also intersted in interactions between hosts and their environmental micrbiomes. Our lab has been supported by funding from NSFC, MOST and collaborative projects. The the total amount of biological sequence data we are dealing is more than 500TB.
We are looking for highly motivated graduate/undergraduate students to work on exciting bioinformatics research projects funded by national funding agencies like NSFC, MOST and local funding agencies from the Shanghai city. People with strong programming skills, knowledge in algorithms, machine learning and/or Biology are very welcome here. However, background in these areas is not necessary if you are willing to learn some basics. Interested individuals are welcome to contact Dr. Wei.
