个人简历
作为一个生物(临床医学)统计领域的工作者,广泛地与临床医学专家合作(包括呼吸,心律,疼痛,重症,癌症),为提高医学研究的效率,研究方法的适用性,研究结果的正确理解作出了显著的贡献。在过去的六年中在统计和生物医学期刊中发表了五十余篇的论文,其中包括发表在Biomtrika, Biometrics, JAMA, JAMA(Internal Medicine)论文。作为一个应用科学领域的专家,通过和和医学专家紧密合作,促进临床医学研究。由于在统计方法和应用上的贡献,还被Joural of System Science and Complexity(SCI杂志)聘为副主编, 被Heart Rhythm(影响因子5.0)和pediatric pulmonology(2.7)聘为统计副主编或编委。2009-2013年分别担任中印第安纳统计协会的副会长和会长。2014年获得上海市“东方学者“特聘教授。

研究成果

我的科研成果可以分为两部分:统计方法的研究和转化和临床医学的协作研究(collaborative research)。我的统计研究方向主要集中在纵向数据分析,生存分析,高维数据,及纵向数据与生存分析数据的联合模型方面。作为一个生物统计学者,我广泛地与临床医学专家合作,为提高医学研究的效率,研究方法的适用性,研究结果的正确理解做出了显著的贡献。
我的统计方法研究拓展并深化了对相关性生存数据的分析 。 伴随着现代临床研究的发展,相关性的生存分析数据在医学领域有广泛的应用,如癌症病人复发事件,肾移植病人的住院事件,以及多中心临床试验中的死亡数据都涉及相关性数据。然而,很多时候,协变量(covariate)对应变量(response variable)的影响非线性的,并且没有固定的函数形式的。我们用核估计(local kernel regression)的方法对非参函数建模,从渐进分布理论上证明了核估计是渐进无偏且以非参的最优速度趋向于正态的。在半参数的模型下,他们还证明了参数部分的渐进无偏和正态性。我们也发展了在相关性生产分析数据中的样条分析方法并发表在Biometrics上。
相关性生存分析的另一种常见临床数据是常返事件(recurrent events),例如:癌症的复发。我运用样条在随机效应模型中发展了非参数回归方法。这些方法在临床数据的分析中显著地提高了估计的准确性和效率。我在发表的四篇相关文章里其中两篇发展了时变系数(time-varying coefficient) 的模型。由于纵向数据的收集,在研究中很多协变量的效应都是随时间在变化的。把时变效应简单的处理为一般的常数系数经常会导致协变量效应的估计的偏差或低效率。我发展的在常返事件分析中的样条估计被应用到美国NIH 资助的关于小儿哮喘的风险的项目中。传统的分析把小儿婴儿时期变量当作常数系数而的到一个负面的统计检验结果。通过新的方法,我们发现婴儿时期的气管敏感性对早期(2-4岁)哮喘没有显著预测作用,但对于后期(5岁以上)的哮喘风险有显著的预测作用。通过我们发展的模型,我们证实了临床研究者对于气管敏感性的对哮喘影响的猜测。我们现在正在发展联合模型中的高维数据分析方法。由于我在非参数回归统计上的贡献,我被Journal of Systems Science and Complexity聘请为Associate Editor。
作为一个生物统计学者,我一直力求从实际应用中创新统计方法并把发展的新方法应用到临床和转化医学研究中。在医学研究中,我利用在纵向数据和生存分析方面的专长,提出对统计分析方法的改进,直接提高了数据分析的效率,显著地改进统计结果。在这些项目中,我充分应用临床试验设计,分析的定量方法改进医学研究的方法。其中有两个项目各自在顶级医学期刊Journal of American Statistical Association发表一篇文章。在一个NIH资助的关于酒精性肝炎的大型研究项目中,我作为项目共同负责人主管数据协调中心的工作,负责管理数据收集系统的开发,管理,数据分析。在过去五年中,我参与了超过15个国家级的研究项目,积累大量的临床科学研究管理和分析的经验。鉴于我大量的统计和临床研究的工作成果,我还被两个国际医学期刊聘为统计编辑(Statistical Editor for Heart Rhythm) 或编委(Member of Editorial Board for Pediatric Pulmonology)。
